Department History & Evolution
The Department of Civil Engineering at Government Polytechnic, Ayodhya was established in 1984 under the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Commencing with a foundational intake of 30 diploma scholars, the department’s mandate has centered on providing affordable, premier polytechnic education to the rural and semi-urban talent pool of the Awadh region.
Over four decades of dedicated service, the department has steadily evolved its pedagogical frameworks. What originated as classical workshop training in electromechanical armatures and analog circuits has transitioned into cutting-edge domains: renewable energy installations, substation telemetry, PLC/SCADA industrial controllers, and micro-grid architecture, aligned with contemporary national utility benchmarks.
Established with 30 intake under UP Technical Education, setting up basic electrical machine shops.
